Hey! My name is Alivia Yates, and I’m a senior in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia. I’m majoring in Health Promotion and Behavior and minoring in Health Policy and Management. While at UGA, I’ve developed a strong passion for pediatric health and healthcare access, and I am hoping to pursue a career in nursing. My goal is to make a meaningful impact in the lives of all populations by addressing health concerns and improving health outcomes through direct service.
I am particularly interested in pediatric and oncology health disparities and health outcomes. I enjoy growing in understanding of determinants that contribute to poor outcomes, as it inspires systemic changes and personal advocacy going forward. Over the years, I have been able to volunteer in varying clinical settings and community settings, in addition to shadowing healthcare professionals. In these settings, I’ve directly worked with pediatric, adult, and elderly populations. My experiences with the pediatric population have inspired my long-term goal of becoming a Pediatric Oncology Nurse Practitioner.
Thank you for visiting my e-portfolio! I look forward to continuing my journey in public health and hope to contribute to a positive trend in pediatric health for many years to come.
